It is a blessing for me to be a member of womanspiritrising, a group that possesses a high energy and supportive atmosphere. Our joy of singing together in rehearsal is only intensified during performances. The unity of three generations of women making music together is a treat. -Pam
The political meaningfulness of our music serves my political work of re-energizing those who share our politics and to empower the disenfranchised. For me, our most meaningful and powerful performance is our annual set with the ACI Women's Mentoring Program. It is our purest program. - Linda
The thing I like best about singing with WSR is to feel that I am part of a group who works to inspire other people, outside of my usual communities of work, family and friends. Carol Bragg, from the Fellowship of Reconciliation (the oldest peace organization in this country), says that she envisions WSR singing in D.C., that politicians need to be reminded of the messages in our songs; of human rights, self love and respect, honesty, truth. In this scary political time, we are singing out, and this gives me hope. - Bryn
I have long enjoyed the sense of empowerment that comes from singing in a community of strong women who want to challenge the world to be a place where all people are valued. My individual voice has gotten stronger by singing this music with others, for others. - Valerie
I joined womanspiritrising to change the world by empowering women through song. I love the sisterhood, the fascinating gigs we get, the Sweet Honey music and singing harmonies. The chorus allows me to be lost in the center of sound. For me, it is about both joyful sharing and encouraging growth. - Claudia
To me, womanspiritrising is representative of everything in which I believe: Diversity of age, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, race. The opportunity and the responsibility to effect change. Sharing a place in time with awesome women. Giving and receiving empowerment. Strength in numbers. Giving voice to those unheard and the simple joy of making music. - Pauline
